Thursday Music

I'm not sure why, but I've had Bob Marley stuck in my head all morning. I'm not a huge fan of the reggae artist, nor do I worship at the altar of the genre like many so often do, but I find a lot of his stuff catchy at least. Usually if I need a Marley fix I can hang at some strip mall sports bar and count on hearing "No Woman No Cry" come blaring over the jukebox at some point.

I'm not sure why I had this particular song penetrating my mind when I woke up today, but I can't complain, cause I do enjoy it. So for today's Thursday Music I bring you "Redemption Song."

If I were smart I would've saved yesterday's post for today.

"When you smoke the herb, it reveals you to yourself." - Bob Marley

Ugh!! I went to St. Marteen and the hotel bar thought it would be a really great idea to put a Marley CD on repeat....for hours!! I cringe now when I hear him.

I hate it how some "artists" today just take Bob Marley songs and rap on top of them. Just overdubbing raps onto full Marley songs. I don't get it.

Johnny was a good man,
Johnny's from the streets y'all,
Never did nobody no harm,
Cuz he's from the streets y'all.

We were just listening to Buffalo Soilder on the way to work and I was laughing at the fact that part of the song sounds like the theme from The Banana Splits Adventure Hour

I have to be in a certain mood, but when it's right..it's right for reggae. :)

Just recently watched I Am Legend. One Bob Marley song gets played (and sort of sung by Will Smith) repeatedly through the movie. Annoying.

Plus the whole movie is just a study in mediocre film making.

I love Bob Marley and very often have his music stuck in my head. It's true though, there is a tendency to overplay him at certain events...

I'm with you on this. Not that into reggae, but I dig Marley. He's just...cool.
