Checkmate, TKO

In my daily news browsing I came across a sports article that intrigued me. It's a new sport called Chessboxing which combines the pugilist art with the game of kings. Participants engage in a round of chess for four minutes, then put on the gloves and beat each other for a three minute round. The game continues until checkmate, knockout, or points are awarded after eleven rounds have been played.

When I first saw this I was perplexed, but after much thought I think this is one big bag of awesome. I love chess, although I haven't played it in years, and I used to be a big fan of boxing before it became the abortion it is now. Combining the two though; is like chocolate and peanut butter. I can't think of a more physically grueling sport than boxing or a more cerebral challenge than chess, so it works well. I so want to play this sport.

I think we should have a Monopoly/Pole Dancing competition for the ladies. You know to combine the skill of negotiation with....oh I don't know. It just seemed appropriate for reasons I don't understand.

It would one dork trying to punch another nerd. Lots of tape on those glasses.

Monopoly and pole dancing? Finally, a sport I can get on board with ;)

I say yes to combination sports like this. I especially like your Monopoly/Pole Dancing suggestion.

I suggest Trivial Pursuit/Football. Teams gain yardage for each correct answer and get penalized for wrong ones (questions answered between downs), and get a first down for every "pie" piece earned.
Basically, it's nerd revenge on the jocks.

What a paradox! I like the Monopoly idea, although I'm not sure how that would work? ha
Works in theory, right?

The great thing about Monopoly/Poledancing is that you can have many players, not just two. I would pay good money to see that sport. Ladies, how 'bout you put a game together. Miss Ash, Rawbean, I'm looking in your direction. Claire seems to be onboard too.

What a weird combo I guess the nerds want to be cool...well if one considers boxing a cool sport. I think it's kinda silly to purposefully get a brain injury.

As for the pole dancing/monopoly. I haven't done either in years :P

Ooh, I know, how about we do a 'disappearing card trick' with your amex and then do laundry while barefoot and pregnant?
