After Sharon's historic removal of Israeli settlements from Gaza, know as the Disengagement Plan, Palestinians occupying the territory got to taste the sweet flavor of democracy. General elections took place and moderate government Fatah took position as leaders of the turbulent region. Recognizing Israel as a legitimate country the new government at least paid lip service to committing to the peace process.As you can imagine their time in office was short. Voters were tired of appeasing the Jewish state and elected the militant Hamas to take over. Recently civil war has broken out between the two factions giving Hamas a sweeping and bloody victory leaving Fatah leaders fleeing the area. Because Hamas is.....ahh you don't give a good shit do you? You've probably stopped reading before the first paragraph ended. You just want to hear about Paris Hilton's prison meals and a hot girl singing some song about how's she all head over heels about Obama don't ya?

It's been something like 2000 (my apologies if there was a significant event in the Muslim theology that occured there after Jesus Christ came down from the cross, if so, then 1400) years since anything holy has happened in the Holy Land. I'm sick and tired of the tiny number of people fighting over this tiny speck of land at the ass of the Meditterreanen Sea. For crying out loud, there are people in Africa dying of AIDS, homeless people everywhere starving to death, prostate cancer, blood, organ and tissue donour shortages all over the place, infertility and drug addictions. Why can't these people put their differences aside and put their efforts toward making the world a better place for everybody, not a worse place for somebody.
