A few weeks back I sat with a couple of friends discussing music. After much discourse we delved into our guilty pleasures. Taking a trip down memory lane we thought of all the musicians we used to listen to in our youth who cause us to now hang our head in shame. Many 'artists' were thrown about, such as Living Color, Faith No More, Def Leppard, and even Debbie Gibson.
Looking back at the conversation there was one band I can't believe I left out. Van Halen was a band I loved when I was young, but even though I know better whenever I hear their songs a smile comes across my face remembering the times I pretended I was Eddie.
Many fans have their favorite era of Van Halen, but I'm mostly indifferent. Back in the day I loved the band so much it was like choosing between Scarlett and Salma. Yes I know their music is pretty shallow and pointless, but damn if I didn't rock the air guitar whenever I heard them.
Feel the suckitude.

In what weird little world do you line in, if Faith No More is a guilty pleasure band. Faith No More is one of those too-good-to-be-popular bands. They're the opposite of a guilty pleasure band. Bon Jovi is a guilty pleasure band, Def Leppard too. But not Faith No More.
Wow. Van Halen a guilty pleasure? Pre-Haggar they were great and had some awesome songs that I still love, and don't feel the slightest bit guilty for saying it. Yeah there songs were shallow and pointless, but so was all the rock that came out of that era.
I don't see how liking the bands you grew up with, ie Def Leppard is a "guilty pleasure" Isn't part of being in your 30s not giving a shit what people think? Statements like this make me feel like we were still in High School and pretending to only like "cool" things and frankly that was so, 1989.... BTW DLR is the better VH, even if he is a tool
Choosing between Scarlett and Salma? Wiwille needs to stop spanking it to the new Vicky Cristina Barcelona preview: http://www.apple.com/trailers/weinstein/vickycristinabarcelona/
You need to rock the air guitar on your webcam for us....come on, throw in some Van Halen and show us the horns!!
Heck I'm in the DLR camp for Van Halen. I really do NOT want to admit that I was a child of any part of the 80's but I guess I would have to say Sammy on his own and ole David lee Roth on his own or with Van Halen. First Music outside of Gospel and Country that I ever listened to was Anthrax. "I'm the Man."
You did however pick one of the songs that I liked from Van Hagar. :P
I was just going to ask if you liked "Van Hagar" ha
I used to crank up "Why Can't This be Love" woo hoo
ABBA
